‘Surveillance’ is a hand-made book exploring the concept of self and the idea of street photography as a form of monitoring. After reading the legal case of Nussenzweig v. DiCorcia in New York, it raised the question: is street photography an invasive method of image capture, or are traditional methods of surveillance even more damaging to one’s sense of self? With bitmapped surveillance images, this book opens up this question to reader, to form their own judgement.
Following on from Surveillance, on a trip to Italy, I compiled my street photography into a new zine titled ‘Nussenzweig v. DiCorcia‘, a response
to my initial questioning on the morality of street photography.
